The Board of Directors was elected on 23rd September 2017 for a two-year period. The members of the Board are:


Film & Commercials Director

Born in Cyprus and from a young age Daina Papadaki is in love with the cinema. Graduated with honors Summa Cum Laude and a BA degree in
Visual Communications (Hawaii Pacific University) and a MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) in Motion Pictures Production/Directing (University of Miami). She was employed for 4 semesters in the position of teaching assistant (for film production classes) in University of Miami. For the past nine years Daina is based in Cyprus, works at a local production studio (Media Studios) where she professionally directs and produces TV commercials, corporate and music videos. She has directed more than 200 TV commercials, music videos, corporate documentaries and 13 short films. Her short films Trapped Inside, Nightfall of Eden & 5 Ways 2 Die were selected and awarded in numerous International Film Festivals. Her latest short Film 5 Ways 2 Die (directed and produced by Daina) is selected and competed in more than 150 international film festivals. Representing Cypriot cinema the film travels to all 5 continents and participates in renown international film festivals: Fantasporto, Woodstock, Cleveland International, Palm Springs Shortsfest, Short Film Festival in Drama, Sarasota Film Festival, Palm Beach Film Festival etc. The film gets very good reviews and is awarded with 48 awards. Amongst these recognitions Daina gets recognised with the Best Director awards in Cluj International Film Festival, Underground Film Festival, Rolda Web Fest and West Chester Film Festival. She was also awarded for her directing work with a Madame Figaro Cyprus Women of the Year 2015 Award in the creator/artist category.

From 2014 to 2017 Daina was the Secretary and Treasurer of the board of directors of the Directors Guild of Cyprus and she is currently the President of the board, in an attempt to contribute in the better conditions of filmmaking in Cyprus. She was also part of the film jury for the Young Lions Cyprus competition, and in the jury and pre-selection committees of the Jaipur International Film Festival, Bigger than Texas Film Festival & London Indie Film Festival.

At the present stage she is preparing to direct her new short film “Off Guard”.

Film, Documentary and Commercials Director

Elena is a Cypriot film director, producer, cinematographer, and editor. She was born in the occupied city of Famagusta, one of the ghost cities of the world.

Elena worked in the film and television industries, in the US and Cyprus, on PSAs, live TV programs, advertisements, documentaries, corporate videos, and instructional films.

As a nature and youth advocate Elena works mainly on environmental and social issues. Her work is dedicated to social changing projects and she often teams up with professionals from a variety of disciplines to press for changes in legislation, policy making and government practices. She frequently creates pro-bono videos for advocate groups, small communities, non-profit organizations and private companies.

Elena is a committee member of the Cyprus Advertising Regulation Organization, a member of the European Documentary Network and the European Women’s Audiovisual Network and has been an International EMMY Awards Juror in the categories of Documentary and News.

Video Director

Sophia Tsangaridou, was born in Nicosia, and from her early years was dreaming of working for the new forms of storytelling, television productions. Sophia through certain life circumstances had the opportunity to observe the television production environment through her early childhood within the old studios of CyBc, so studying the field and working later on in video production projects was a natural step to take in her life. She obtained a Bsc in Communications, specialized on Radio and Television, an MA in Media Production and Management (Middlesex University), and currently being a Dprof Candidate in Digital Media/Journalism (Middlesex University).

Sophia is currently an Academic, teaching media related courses, and in parallel being active in several productions. She was invited to teach locally and abroad seminars and workshops, on subjects related with: creating a low budget movie, from the idea to post, shooting and composition, editing and being a journalist in a multimedia era.

In the past, from her early steps in the job she had the chance to work through several production positions from production assistant, to camera operator (CTO projects), editor (CTO projects), production manager (CYTA, EAC, CTO projects) and assistant director (documentary- P.I.O. under an American Director, assistant director for the Cyprus shootings for a documentary on ‘George Seferis’ under a Greek Director and Producer and for a short film). In the last years Sophia is mostly working as a director, producer in parallel with her involvement in Academia, and she is mostly working on television (aired on local stations) and web videos, for clients such as Municipalities, Private Companies, Sports Organizations and NGOs. Film and Documentary Director

Constantinos Patsalides was born in 1981 in Nicosia. His latest short film titled “30” was released in 2018 and is included in the Short Film Corner Market, catalogue of Cannes (14-19 May 2018).

For the next two years, he will be among the members of the Board of Directors of the Association of Film Directors in Cyprus (Film Representative, March 2017-2019).

Since 2001, he has worked as a cinematographer for television channels broadcasting all over Cyprus. In addition, he has worked for the Cyprus Radio Broadcasting Corporation (RIK) and he has participated in many television productions and documentaries. In 2015, he directed a long documentary film (creative documentary) called “Beloved Days”, which is marking a significant success for Cyprus’s standards. In April 2016, it was screened in K-Cineplex cinemas across Cyprus and was classified as the first Cypriot documentary ever to be featured among commercial films in K-Cineplex.  “Beloved days” was awarded for Best Documentary by the Mumbai Film Festival jury, and a special screening was held in London and in Brussels, at the European Parliament.

In 2007 he undertook the direction of a documentary titled “A true story”, about the wretched living conditions of the people in Kenya. The documentary was nominated by the European Parliament Office in Cyprus for the Journalism Prize. In 2008 he directed a documentary about illegal immigration, titled “Hope against desperation”, in co-production with the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus. He has given seminars in the University of Cyprus and Frederick University, on creative and video documentary.

Since 2008 he is one of the fundamental members of the freelance documentary company “Walking Around the World”.

His films have been screened in many international film festivals in Spain, Sweden, India, Greece, USA, Cyprus and Alexandria and have been theatrically released in London, Hungary and Cyprus.

Film, TV and Stage Director

After graduating from The English School, Nicosia in 1992 he begun studying Journalism and Video Production Frederick I.T. In 1995 he moved on to Columbia College, Hollywood for Film and TV Directing studies and then graduated from The New York Institute of Technology receiving his B.F.A. Upon his return to Cyprus he was hired by Lumiere TV and directed a total of 14 TV shows. After that he directed a number of TV series in collaboration with almost all the major TV stations in Cyprus and Greece. He also Directed 4 music videos including the Official Video for Cyprus, for the Eurovision song contest in 2013. He also Directed 7 Theatre plays and produced visuals for a number of plays. He is also an Online Editor and he edited a large number of TV series and Short films. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Directors Guild Cyprus in the past for 2 consecutive years.

LONGINOS PANAGI  Public Relations Representative

Born in Cyprus, 1970. He studied Journalism in Nicosia (KES College) and Film Directing in Athens (Stavrakos Film School) and Prague (FAMU) on a scholarship awarded by the Greek Film Centre. He has worked as a journalist and a film critic for a number of years. He has a deep interest in different literary forms. His articles and poems have been published in magazines and anthologies in Cyprus and Greece. He is the writer of two poetry books, a short novel and a play which he staged for the National Theatre of Cyprus. After directing three short films, he is now working on his first feature film, funded by the Cyprus Cinema Advisory Committee.

2000: Eat The Art, 10′

Video-art film produced by Longinos Panayi for the Pantheon Gallery. A 24 hour creative project with the co-operation of 20 visual artists taking place inside a house.


2006: “Magiko Theatro”, his first play, was staged by him at the Experimental Stage of the National Theatre of Cyprus.

2002-2003: Works as a Public Relations Manager for Theatro Ena in Nicosia, preparing press material for the theatre’s productions.


2013: “The House”, his second collection of poems is being completed and prepared for publication.

2011: “Twelve Summers and Other Poems”, his first collection of poems is published in Athens by Mandragoras.

2008: He writes “The Prince and the Wolf” a fairytale-like short novel, which will be developed for animation.


2012: “Twelve Summers”, his first collection of poems, was short-listed for the National Literature Awards.

2005: His film “Fool Moon” was awarded the Second Prize for Best Fiction Film in the Third Cyprus Short Film Festival. It has also gained the award for Best Music Composition. Also presented at the Drama Short Film Festival in Greece and at Oporto Film Festival in Portugal.

2002: His first theatre play was awarded with distinction at the Playwright Competition of the Cyprus Theatre Organization.

1997: His student film “Thyrathen” was awarded a full scholarship by the Greek Film Center.

1993: He was awarded at the Festival of Student Films of Stavrakos School.

He has served as a Secretary of the Board at the Cyprus Film and Television Directors Union.

He has lectured on Cinema and Film Directing at the European University, at the University of Nicosia and at the Pancyprian Gymnasium.
